When it comes to renovating your home, most people tend to leave their kitchen to last and put up with having a date, barely functional kitchen whilst they get the bedrooms and living areas up to date and looking dapper, which is fair enough.
However, the kitchen is deserving of much more respect than we afford it. It’s the place where we start off our days, sharing breakfast with our family, its where we cook up nutritious meals to enjoy and sustain ourselves and its that secret place where we all sneak off to in the middle of the night for a cheeky snack.
In fact, the kitchen tends to see the most traffic throughout the day. People dropping in and out, preparing snacks, grabbing a healthy bite, preparing hot drinks and smoothies and so on. So, why is it then that we tend to leave it till last?
Sure, it’s important to have a comfortable place where we can return to after a hard day at work, curl up on the sofa and binge watch our favourite series. And of course, you want to feel comfortable in your bedroom so that you can get a comfortable night’s sleep. But a quality, functioning kitchen with all the trimmings? What could be more important than that?
Having a dated kitchen which has fallen into disrepair is a great way to encourage unhealthy eating. People with kitchens that they’re not satisfied tend to order take out more frequently and skip cooking in favour of a microwave meal. These are habits which we should knock on the head, particularly if you have children.
The main benefit of having a beautifully renovated kitchen is feeling inspired to cook. It’s nice to have a kitchen that you can be proud of so that you will enjoy cooking more. A place where you can invite your children to bake cakes and learn to cook various, simple dishes. It’s a place where you can teach them to respect food and value a healthy diet. It’s also a great place to sit up till the early hours of the morning, gossiping with your favourite people over a bottle of wine after everyone else from the party have returned home.
If you’ve yet to get around to renovating your kitchen and you’d love to have a fresh and modern kitchen installed; then you should get in contact with a reputable company. Having quality kitchen countertops is arguably one of the most important aspects of a kitchen. Not only can they add a delightful aesthetic appeal to your kitchen, they also make your kitchen much easier to maintain. Stone countertops which are easy to clean and don’t cling on to germs. Stone countertops which can take a bit of a beating and endure the hot pans, the bangs and the scrapes.
So, what are you waiting for? You don’t have to break the bank and you might not have to replace everything! Perhaps your kitchen only needs some new stone worktops and a lick of paint. Breathe a little life into your kitchen and take care of the most important room in the house.
So, you’re thinking it’s high-time you have your kitchen remodelled? Good, it’s an exciting time though one which requires careful consideration before going ahead. There are many factors which require your attention, particularly if you want to pull it off properly without looking back in regret and wanting to do things differently. It’s not exactly the cheapest process either, so you have to get it done right the first time otherwise you’ll end up kicking yourself! In this post, we are going to explore a few different things that you should bear in mind before going ahead with your kitchen renovation:
It’s important to be realistic about what you can afford, as kitchen remodelling isn’t ultra-cheap. You could always go down the DIY route, though if you want a truly spectacular design and finish, then it’s worth paying that little bit extra for a reputable company to come in and take care of absolutely everything for you.
How do you use your kitchen? Obviously, you use it to prepare food, but do you like to spend time in your kitchen with family and friends enjoying a glass of wine or do you tend to disappear into the lounge area? Before going ahead and starting the design process it is important to decide on how you’d like your kitchen to function and what features you don’t currently have which you’d like.
Obviously the sooner the better, though it’s important to think about timing and ensure that you’ll be able to take time off where necessary to be present when the renovations are being made. Just be prepared for things to take longer than you’d expect! Particularly if you want an exceptional finish that you can be proud of.
This ties in closely with Budgeting Well as being realistic, though it’s also very important to know that you get what you pay for. A kitchen renovation isn’t as cheap as it would be to have a bedroom or lounge remodelled, so be prepared to have to fork out a fair amount. Understand that if you try to be too reserved with your money, you won’t be entirely satisfied with the end project. Simply put, if you’re going to do it, you just as well do it properly and go all out! (Without breaking the bank of course!)
A kitchen renovation isn’t going to feel quite as special if you end up using all of your old appliances. Sure, there might be one or two items which you love that are in brilliant condition, but if you can afford to we would highly recommend investing in some brand-spanking new kitchen appliances. You’ll feel great when you first step into an entirely brand new kitchen!
